Times Theater announces plans for the Round Barn Opry.
Press release, Jan 20, 2022
Rochester Indiana’s Times Theater starts 2022 with exciting news.
While work is still being done to ready the building for occupancy, all eyes are on the future and events that will make the Times a reality.
The Board of Directors is thrilled to announce plans for the Round Barn Opry at the Times.
Thad Stewart approached the Times’ Board with the idea of the Opry last fall. His daughter, Katie “Kate Karter” Stewart, has been making a name for herself in the music industry, recently released her debut single and a current member of the Orange Blossom Opry in Florida. Thad also has a passion for music, is a seasoned musician and will be the Producer of the Round Barn Opry. Together with the Times, they will create something that Rochester will be be proud of and that will attract visitors on a regional level. Initial plans are to have 2 shows a month starting later this year. Shows will consist of 2 nights; Thursdays being a competition between show-casers who will then create the Friday Night Feature.
The Time Theater’s historical stage, the Opry’s wide appeal and Rochester’s central location creates a huge opportunity for all.
Formation of the Round Barn Opry Band has already begun. Fundraising for an upgraded sound system and Marquee will be underway soon.
Once the Times Theater is open to the public, plans include live music, movies and community events.
